India logged 18,000 new coronavirus infections in a single day after a gap of 130 days, taking the COVID-19 tally to 4,34,52,164, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Thursday.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a cumulative total of 18,65,44,868 samples have been tested up to January 16 with 7,79,377 samples being tested on Saturday.
The tally of active cases now comprises 0.05 per cent of the total infections.
The death toll climbed to 5,10,905 with 492 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.
India recorded 11,793 new coronavirus infections, pushing the country's tally to 4,34,18,839, while the active cases rose to 96,700, the Union health ministry said.
The active cases comprise 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.74 per cent, the health ministry said.
